Grand,
sweeping, dramatic... these are all adjectives that come to mind when
describing Solace,
by 
composer
and keyboard artist Michael Hoppe´ (Spring Hill Music),
particularly the songs with the Prague Symphony, like “This Majestic
Land.” However, there are also pieces that are more intimate
and personal, warmed by violin, viola or cello. “The Parting,”
featuring Vangelis, is hauntingly beautiful. Hoppe's exquisite
classical compositions 
are
intended to bring comfort - solace - in dark times, and surely this
heavenly, sweet music could do just that. Highly recommended!
The redemption of a fallen angel is the theme of Cirque du Soleil's
Varekai (RCA Victor).
As Cirque du Soleil, the acclaimed entertainment production, moves
the heart with its visual pagentry, the soundtrack Varekai
stirs the heart with music, and with equal power. Composed by Violaine
Corradi, and arranged by Nitin Sawhney, Varekai
combines Middle Eastern, Gypsy, and African influences, natural sounds,
song and spoken word in a sound-world of mystery and poetry. The word
varekai means “wherever” in the Gypsy language, Romany,
and the album and production Varekai pays tribute to the wanderer,
in this, its fourteenth live production. Let it speak to the wanderer
in your heart.
