The
runes
are
not
only
a
part
of
the
Northern
path,
they
are
also
a
magical
alphabet
in
their
own
right.
Yet
why
would
you
use
the
runes
when
the
Hebrew
and
Enochian
magical
alphabets
are
available?
It's
more
than
that
the
runes
are
the
equal
of
the
other
alphabets,
it's
that
the
runes
of
the
elder
futhark
are
more
fixed
in
the
world
around
us.
The elder futhark does this by grouping the runes into three groups of eight called aettir (singular, aett) or families. The Enochian alphabet has no division. The letters of the Hebrew alphabet are grouped into the three mothers (Salt, Sulfur, and Mercury from alchemy though some Christians put it as Father, Son, and Holy Ghost), the seven doubles (the seven classical planets), and the twelve single (the zodiac) letters.
By
contrast
the
runes
have
three
aettir
called
Freyja's
aett,
Heimdall's
aett,
and
Tiwa's
(or
Tyr's)
aett.
These
represent
the
three
castes
or
categories
of
ancient
Indo-European
society:
the
farmers,
the
fighters,
and
the
priest-kings.
This
division
or
description
of
society
as
“those
who
work,
those
who
fight,
and
those
who
pray”
would
last
into
the
Medieval
Ages
-
and
note
that
the
order
of
the
three
is
the
same
for
the
runes
as
for
Medieval
texts.
This same division applies to the modern world. The world may be more complex; it has not been recreated from scratch. People still occupy those same three slots. The aett of Freyja is the aett of fertility, growth, and production, its nurturing and sustenance. So the factory worker, the farmer, the nurse, the construction worker and the mother all come under this aett. So does the nurse and the sales clerk.
