Edgewood Article continued from last page Another
great service the Edgewood College is providing to the community - and
the world is a database, being developed by Dr. Arenda, that
will identify possible drug interactions between Western medicines and
Oriental herbal treatments. We were advised that, in Oriental medicine,
an herb such as ma huang (ephedra) would never be used without a doctor's
supervision and expertise. Some Oriental herbs, offered freely through
American health food stores, would be more closely controlled and supervised
by Oriental doctors. Students at Edgewood must learn to identify and
use 375 herbs! Our
thanks to Joe Sun, Gary McNabb, Dr. George Kitchie, Beth Reese, and
the faculty and administration of Edgewood College for their hospitality
to the Aquarius staff during our visit. |
