GROWTH AND RENEWAL
by Lynn “Phoenix” Marks

...From across the street I hear the rustling of leaves in the tall olive tree. Then I see something small and black free-fall from the tree. “Plop.” Time seems to stand still. For so ever a brief moment, everything is quiet. I start to breath again. I want to believe it’s just a piece of bark that’s fallen, although, instinctivelyI know better.

...That was the sound of an immature black bird hitting the payment.
At first I’m stunned by what I’ve just witnessed. I feel emotions. I want that small black mass to somehow find the strength to lift its head and wings and move forward. It seems to flutter. Then there is stillness again. I pray that God be with it. I send it love and light to find its way to its highest good.
Other birds come down to be with the fallen chick or check its condition. First there is one; then another. Now six birds gather in a circle around this fallen brother, sister, child. From my side of the street a dove begins to coo ever so gently. And, then all the birds fly off into the different directions of the wind.

...I ask inside what I’ve just observed. “Growth and Renewal” was the answer.

...Today started as a typical morning. Angel and I were taking our daily morning walk through the neighborhood. Yet this particular moment doesn’t seem usual or typical. And, yet it is. Perhaps you’ve noticed that nature makes way for Growth and Renewal (make that health and prosperity) by releasing what is weak, frail or worn. Whether it’s a lightning storm that starts brush fires, severe weather that breaks branches from trees or birds pushing out young, immature chicks-- the end result is the same. It’s the cycle of life that’s replayed though out all time across the globe.

...However, unlike us human beings, the birds, trees and plains have no ego attached to the outcome. It’s simply the way of Growth and Renewal.
Perhaps you’ve noticed that even in your own life, the intelligence of the Universe has a way of periodically creating healing “crisis” to release and cleanse what no longer works to make way for “Growth and Renewal.”
In Messages from God it says: “The path to perfect health is full expression. No holdbacks.”

...It’s our basic right to prosper; that’s full expression. If we are attached to those parts of our self - physical, mental, emotional, spiritual or historical – that no longer support our full expression or our “best” self, we are limiting our “perfect health.”

...If we aren’t willing to look at the truth of our life, our relationships, our partnerships, business, our check book, our work, our feelings, our patterns, we are setting our self up for the higher intelligence of the Universe to create a crisis of meaning to help us get the lesson and let go so we can grow and renew.

...Like a springtime garden filled with buds on trees and flowers reflecting the colors of the rainbow, we must first let go to fully blossom; to fully express our perfect health; our gift; our true, natural being.

...The Universe knows that you are the perfect expression of joy, prosperity and harmony. The Universe wants you to experience complete joy, prosperity and harmony. The litmus test is radiant passion.
The path to radiant, perfect health is self-examination. Be the observer, not the critic.

Ask yourself:
“What makes me feel weak, frail or worn?”

“Who makes me feel weak, frail or worn?”

...Use this as your barometer. Notice those things that you agree to, do or allow into your life, that seem to suck out your breath… maybe not right away, but in time. Just notice them.

...When you are ready or hurting enough, you will allow them to go. It’s just that simple. And, with time you’ll notice these things before you feel the pain, before there is a crisis. You won’t even allow them into your life, no matter how long or hard they may knock at your door or the awareness of your mind.

...As Joseph Campbell said: “We must be willing to get rid of the life we’ve planned, so as to have the life that is waiting for us. The old skin has to be shed before the new one can come.”

...When you recognize (or is it, are willing to admit what you’ve always known on some level) who or what depletes your energy, causes pain, limits your joy and holds you back from fully realizingyour greatness - Be Gentle.
Be like those six birds gathered around the fallen chick. Acknowledge it, bless it, let it go with grace and fly off into your true direction.
