JOHN OF GOD,
THE MAN OF MIRACLES
by Lexie Ross

...Once in every century, someone appears that creates so many miracles, it can’t be denied they are sent from a heavenly source. Joao Teixeira Faria known in Portuguese as Joao de Deus, or John of God, is just such a man. Having come from the most abject poverty in his small village of Brazil, some time in his teenage years, the people in his presence began to experience amazing and miraculous healings. Raised as a Roman Catholic, taking no credit for his astonishing destiny, with the help of God and his own infinite compassion for mankind, John spends his life healing the thousands of ailing pilgrims. And, nothing can compare to the miracles performed by this remarkable soul.

...Standing in front of crowds of two and three thousand suffering people who are painfully eager to be touched by this Miracle Man, John goes into a trance and 30 or so famous deceased Brazilian doctors come through to perform healings that can be described in no other way than true miracles. Within seconds, each person is diagnosed, treated and sent on their way to recover. The crazy thing about the whole situation is that John has no knowledge of what is happening and says when he is not in trance, he can’t stand the sight of blood.

...At his Casa de Dom Inacio in Abadiana, Brazil, he often performs surgeries in front of the crowd. Other times they are performed invisibly. However they take place, people feel nothing during the operation, there is very little blood, yet afterward, they often feel that they have experienced an operation. Using a plain kitchen knife, he scrapes the cataracts from peoples eyes, makes incisions in people’s bodies reaching in to remove their tumors or he might operate on someone’s heart, helping them to avoid a major operation. He even heals AIDS. The miracles are unending in variety and number. And those who are sincerely grateful for the opportunity to be in his presence, come away with some kind of life changing physical, emotional or spiritual experience. Most of these, want to return to see him again and again. Interestingly enough, it is only the skeptics that leave without experiencing anything. It is as if you must have a sense of gratitude for the possibility of a profound miracle. And rightly so.

...The people who come to visit John of God, come from every corner of the earth. They represent every race and religion and every walk of life. He heals them all. He feels that the earth is at a critical juncture and that one of his missions is to make people understand his message of racial and religious tolerance with the hope of bringing universal brotherhood
and peace.

...Donjenna Yokely is a local Atlantan and one among the millions of people who have received one of John of God’s mind blowing miracles. Having suffered a stroke at the age of 31, the doctors couldn’t figure out what was causing such a strange thing to happen to such a young women. Not knowing what to do, they prescribed steroids for several years until her body started breaking down with the osteoarthritis caused by steroids. Then, despite the fact that she didn’t have cancer, they put her on chemotherapy. Added to that were the antidepressants. The chemical stew finally left her without her mental faculties and her body was slowing becoming more and more crippled. It’s hard for her to tell her story without breaking into sobs. Not only had she lost her ability to read, she was in a wheel chair and was not able to walk. One of her dear friends knew about John of God and suggested she go to Brazil to see him and offered to pay her way. That in itself was a miracle of kindness, and these gifts to see John, happen frequently among the critically ill. It’s as if the spirit guides often pick those who are to receive the healings.

...Donjenna arrived at the Casa having had total hip and knee replacements and walking with a cane. When she stood in front of John, he took one look and started shouting in Portuguese, “This woman is too young to have suffered such ill health.” He then pulled her cane out of her hand, threw it away, and made an incision in the side of her stomach that she describes “as feeling like a gust of energy that flowed throughout my whole body.” He then forced her to walk and after years in a wheel chair and totally depending on her cane - she did. Donjenna has also regained her mental faculties and today is volunteering with the John of God visit.

...There are literally millions of stories that keep drawing people to this astounding man of miracles. His gifts go beyond anyone’s true understanding of how they happen, but there is no denying that they are real. Fortunately, America is going to be blessed with his profound healer, when he comes to Atlanta in April. I know I will be in line.
