The awesome power of chanting by Tibetan monks and Nuns is the focus of Tibetan Freedom Chants (Oreade Music). The album features Bhagdro and Chris Michell chanting, and playing bell, cymbals, and flute live in the Namgyal Monastery next door to the Dalai Lama's residence and at Tushita Meditation Center. Also featured are the Nuns of Drapchi Prison in five previously recorded songs. Drums and singing bowls were added in the UK, but the background sounds are of the daily life of the monastery and the monks practicing with their long horns. It is heart-breaking to hear Bhagdro, a monk, explain that this album is done for food, and how the Chinese administration has starved his countryfolk. A donation from the sale of each CD will be given to the Survivors of Tibet.
