The Enlightened Brain

Research by German Scientist Christian Opitz

Although new on the world stage, the process of Deeksha (energy transfer for Enlightenment) has already drawn the interest of German Ph.D. biochemist Christian Opitz, who performed extensive tests in India, scanning individuals' brains before and after Deeksha. Utilizing an advanced electromagnetic frequency diagnostic device called Karnak, developed at the University of Milan, Opitz established individual baseline brain functions, then retested after Deeksha had been given. His tests showed significant, replicable shifts in subjects' brain activity and striking changes in certain areas of the brain.

Disconnection of Activity in the Parietal Lobes and Increase of Activity in Frontal Lobes

Brain research shows that a disconnection of activity in the parietal lobes is an essential event in the enlightenment process. The parietal lobes host what neuroscientists call the orientation association area or OAA. The function of the OAA is to give us orientation in space. If the OAA, which is designed to create a perception of distinction and separation to a useful degree, is hyperactive, the amygdala-hippocampus connection interprets this hyperactivity by assuming that separation has more reality. The conclusion is that we are fundamentally, existentially separate from anything else. The sense of self, which the brain creates constantly in reaction to what is perceived as other than self (the basic premise of object-relations theory in developmental psychology) is then endowed with a sense of absolute, distinct separation of self from everything else.

The frontal lobes are associated with the individual will. Many mystical traditions speak about the merging of the individual will with the will of God as both a doorway to and result of God-realization. However, this cannot happen if the frontal lobes are under active. It is a universal law that anything incomplete in nature seeks its own completion. My own findings in neurophysiology show that the frontal lobes of practically all people are chronically under active. This means they simply do not have enough neurotransmitters and electrical energy to function anywhere near optimum.
Neuroscience has shown that in deep meditation or prayer, the OAA in the parietal lobe is temporarily blocked from neurological input and the frontal lobe is stimulated. However, this is a temporary experience, dependent on an altered brain function such as the suppression of neurological input. Until now, a permanent abiding-in-oneness consciousness has been almost impossible to attain in this way.

In November of 2004, scientists at the University of Wisconsin conducted a test on Buddhist Monks and a control group to test the skills of observation and paying attention. The Monks had been focusing for years on love, compassion and meditation and had between 10,000-50,000 hours in those areas. The other group had never focused in these areas. For one week, the Monks trained the other group to meditate. When the Monks (over 256 of them) had electrodes attached to their brains and focused on compassion, their Frontal Lobes lit up so strongly, that it was unprecedented in any other research. The control group, after a week, had very little change in their Frontal Lobe activity when they focused on compassion. It was surmised, that when the Frontal Lobe is stimulated, the person has more connection to Source energy, joy and unconditional happiness. Also, that this skill of paying attention can be learned and will create neuro-biological shifts in the brain. Furthermore, and most importantly, environment affects the brain, and if we can re-wire our brain by creating new circuits by paying attention differently, then we will be able to perceive Reality differently.

The new phenomenon, Deeksha, has the measured effect of activating the frontal lobes and deactivating the parietal lobes. This could give completion to the individual, its fullest flowering is when it would naturally merge with the greater reality of God. I also found that in people who had received a substantial amount of Deeksha, the parietal lobes were quieter than the frontal lobes, which for about two hundred years were much more activated - and always with a slight dominance of the left frontal lobe, which is exactly what you want to see.

Many scientists and spiritual leaders have called for a marriage of science and spirituality. After modern science was founded in the 17th century as a reaction to centuries of blind faith, scientists tried for about two hundred years to confirm the objectivist-mechanistic worldview of Descartes and Newton. In the early 20th century, this search finally merged into the staggering discoveries of quantum physics, which showed that mystics had described reality quite accurately for millennia. What has been missing so far is a system of spiritual transformation that delivers scientific, precise, and repeatable results. It is my contention, from scientific investigation, personal experience, and anecdotal evidence, that Deeksha is the first spiritual system to deliver such results on a global scale.

Anette Carlstrom from Sweden will be conducting Deeksah programs November 10th – 12th. See the ad on page 10 for more information.
