Ron Roth, Ph. D., is an internationally known teacher, modern day
mystic and author of many books, including The Healing Path of
Prayer. His numerous CDs include Living Beyond Limits
in the Fourth Dimension and The Divine Connection.
SS: How may we become more perfect vehicles for the Holy Spirit?
RR:
The best way to unleash that power is through authentic prayer, a heart-to-heart
conversation with the Divine. In the Christian Testament there is a
list of gifts of the Holy Spirit. One gift that I believe is misunderstood
is healing. The original language does not say gift of healing
it says gifts of healing and for me, that
means the gift goes to the sick person. I think the moment we start
calling ourselves healer, the power begins to diminish,
because that's not what it's about. It's about the recognition
of the essence call it Holy Spirit, or whatever name you like.
It's a presence, which calls us into a relationship and that relationship
is what prayer is about.
SS: How may we shift our consciousness to heal any entrenched
patterns we may find in our lives?
RR: You have to make a conscious choice for what you truly want
not only make it out loud, but also write it down. In the book
of Deuteronomy, there's a statement where God says, I lay
before you life or death, blessings or curse. I bid you, choose life.
What He's saying is that the choice is ours. Maybe that choice keeps
being presented over and over, but you will notice, as you more consciously
make the choice for life, the energy of that choice coming to you starts
to diminish. At one point you wake up and realize, Oh, that particular
challenge isn't there anymore, because you've made the
choice.
Our part is to choose to pray, to choose to allow the Holy Spirit, the
Spirit of God, to work through us. The Holy Spirit is not a dogma; it
is the essence of who we are. Once we become aware of the fact that
we are Spirit, our challenges diminish. That’s how we begin to
transcend and transform our lives.
SS: How may we recognize the voice of the Holy Spirit inside
ourselves?
RR: The voice is always followed by peace. It may come in a prophecy,
it may come in a word of wisdom, or in a dream. However, where most
people fail, and I've done this, is in thinking, Oh, this
is to be accomplished right now. In the spirit world, there's
no time. There is no space. It's really learning to listen as you
go about your daily duties. In the Hebrew Testament Elijah says, Then
I heard a whisper, and in the whisper was the sound of God's voice.
SS: You speak about this concept of no time, that
everything is already set for us. We just need to open, to receive.
We just have to set ourselves up as the right receptacle for it.
RR: That's correct, and again, we’re back to prayer.
There are many forms of prayer everything from listening to singing
to meditating. These are tools that open us to be better receptacles.
Each person is like a radio transmitter and receiver. Our challenge
is that we're always transmitting and we're never sitting quiet
long enough to receive.
Sometimes the healing or the manifestation of that grace does not occur
immediately because there is something we are called to do. In that
silent, still voice, there is this whisper, there is this voice telling
us, Take this step: take this step. If our mind is too full
of chatter, we don't hear it.
